On drive in today I was listening to the former CEO of Proctor and Gamble and he said a few interesting things I thought I’d share.
First, companies are one of 2 things, low cost or differentiators , and there is only 1 low cost in a give vertical market. He spoke about Dell and that Lenovo (China PC company) is the low cost company in that business, so Dell needs to lower costs or differentiate.
Second, he joked how in the lip gloss business, if you don’t have the exact right color in market for a season, you are dead in water and losing lots of money on lip gloss .
